I don't think I would want to stay in Positano. Having said that, I can see the attraction of wandering its colourful streets once the day trippers have gone! As a family, we prefer a larger base with a bit more going on. Plus, although the getting there is part of the fun for a day trip, I would rather stay somewhere with easier transport connections. How to spend a perfect family day in Sorrento!

Sorrento is a great base for day trips to Capri, Ischia, Positano and Pompeii. However, you can also enjoy a perfect relaxing family day in Sorrento itself. We stayed in Sorrento for 4 days in October 2024 with our boys, then aged 10 and 12. After a few busy days of excursions, we decided to devote our last day to relaxing in Sorrento itself. Feed the fish! Start your day by ambling down to the small beach at Marina Grande. Despite its name, Marina Grande is a small but charming harbour. How to spend a perfect weekend in Bruges with kids

Fries, chocolate, beer and canals... Whilst I love my husband dearly, I like to do one trip each year with just me and the kids. I don't know why but it does feel different (and there's no voice in my ear telling me not to spend too much money!). I took a trip to Belgium with my boys, then aged 9 and 10 in April 2023. A hidden gem – Falling Foss waterfall and tea garden

I'm not sure I actually want to tell you about Falling Foss. For years, it felt like one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets. However, the cat has been out of the bag for a little while now. Put simply, Falling Foss waterfall and tea garden is a gem and a visit here feels almost magical. Paddling in the beck at Falling Foss! Falling Foss waterfall Beautiful reflections at Falling Foss! When I announced I was taking my boys, then aged 9 and 11, solo to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the reaction from my friends was "that's brave" or "are you sure?" Having visited Edinburgh previously with my boys, I was undeterred but decided to break up the shows with doing some tourist stuff as well. The boys loved it. The following year, we went back to Edinburgh for the Fringe, with more time to spend and more shows booked. We had a blast!
