Spray-painting the Berlin Wall with teens and tweens!

Berlin, Germany
Yes, really! You can do this and it’s not illegal! I’m not suggesting you can pitch up with your cans of paint and start tagging any available remnant of wall. However, as part of a booked graffiti workshop with a local artist, spray-painting the Berlin Wall is lots of fun for teens and tweens! 10 year having fun with spraypaint! Our masterpiece on the Berlin Wall! Final touches! Graffiti culture in Berlin Graffiti culture in Berlin dates back to early 1980s. Today, you will find graffiti everywhere. The authorities have historically prosecuted and fined graffiti artists. However, more recently, the city has commissioned a lot of legally painted graffiti. It has also designated areas (such as the stretch of the original Berlin Wall in the Mauerpark) where anyone can legally…

I have been to Brussels a number of times, on my own, with friends and with my husband. Some trips have been for a few days. Others have just been for a quick lunch in the Grand Place before heading off elsewhere in Europe on a train. I wasn't however sure how much there would be to interest teens and tweens in Belgium. Nonetheless, my boys were really keen to visit Belgium, inspired by thoughts of waffles and fries with mayo! We had a great trip to Brussels and Bruges - please check out my posts below for some of the highlights... Top things to do in Brussels with older kids

Athens with teens and tweens – what to pack

Athens with teens and tweens – what to pack

Athens, Greece
Here are my Top Things to Pack for a short-break in Athens with teens or tweens Beautiful beach on Aegina Island! The Parthenon! Photo stop at the Corinth Canal! 1. Sun cream and sunhats Even in mid-April, temperatures were in the late 20s. The narrow streets and covered outdoor terraces of the historic centre do offer shade. However, you will be completely exposed to the sun on the Acropolis and at the Agora. A high factor sun cream and hats for everyone are definitely something to pack for Athens with teens and tweens! 2. Walking boots / comfortable shoes with a good grip Be prepared to walk – a lot! The streets are hilly and can be uneven. In some areas, particularly at the Acropolis and other ancient sites, stone…

Homage to Currywurst

Homage to Currywurst

Berlin
Yummy currywurst! Political cartoon at one our favourite currywurst restaurants! You cannot come to Berlin and not eat a currywurst. Seriously, it’s the law (well, it should be!). Even the fussiest teen or tween will love it (and vegetarian versions are available). So what is a currywurst and where should you try one? What is currywurst? The currywurst is German fast food and is ideal for a quick pitstop to refuel hungry teens or tweens (and hangry dads). It’s a budget-friendly option for lunch on the go. It consists of smoked German-sausage, fried and sliced, with spiced and curry flavoured tomato sauce on top. You can have it served with chips or with a bread roll. History of the currywurst The dish was invented just after World War II and…

Visit Choco-Story Brussels and book on a chocolate making workshop. Check out the big balls at the Atomium. Explore the whole of Europe in…
